Jesus saves the worst of sinners. My life testifies to this reality. I was raised in a single-parent home by a mother who struggled with mental illness and addiction, and spent my most formative years in neighborhoods marked by gang violence, drugs, and sexual promiscuity. Looking up to drug-dealers, rappers, and gangsters as role models, I pursued these worldly passions with great ambition. But after drinking deeply from this broken cistern, I was never satisfied. I kept wanting more. More drugs. More alcohol. More money. More sin. And the more I indulged my dark desires, the more my life deteriorated. I was on my way to my own personal hell on earth, and even worse, eternal condemnation.
But God is so kind and merciful, and out of His great love, He called me out of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for all of my sin and rose from the dead to give this lost man hope, truth, and eternal life. Ever since that day, God has been blessing and transforming me in ways I could never have imagined. I am the husband of a faithful wife (Tiffany), the father of three precious sons (Levi, Theodore, and Peter), and the grateful pastor of First Baptist Church of Aurora. Reader, please know, with my background, I'm not supposed to be here. But Jesus is real, the gospel is true, and therefore, transformation is possible! God really can save anyone.
