Who We Are...We are a community of Christ followers sharing the hope of Jesus.
We are made up of people from all walks of life: rich and poor; young and old, or somewhere in-between; But one thing unites us: Jesus Christ. We care for each other through life's difficulties and rejoice together through life’s triumphs. We encourage each other and pray together. Our Sunday morning worship services reflect the beauty of this diverse community and our unity as a people in Jesus.
Our mission is to share the hope of Jesus. The hope of Jesus is that, through Jesus, God’s kingdom has been established on Earth. We see that in his ministry. Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, and preached good news to the poor. Through his death on the cross, Jesus paid the price for our sins creating a way for us to be reconciled to the Father and each other. Through his resurrection, he defeated the powers of death and Satan providing us a way to live a life filled with hope for the future. Someday Jesus will return to banish all evil and to establish his kingdom in all its fullness. In the meantime, the Church is called to turn outward in mission and share the hope of Jesus.

Expanding the vision...
Over the last 186 years, our congregation has evolved with the community around us. One source of pride is our diversity; ethnic, socio-economic, age, etc. We draw our membership from the surrounding communities, families who grew up in the church, and those who were invited by family/friends. We are a church family that truly values and loves one another. Our congregation supports our youth and believes in helping them grow their faith and leadership skills. We believe in FBC’s mission and strive to serve as one body under Christ.
Where we are headed...
Aurora is the 2nd largest city in Illinois, both by population and land area. FBC’s immediate community, downtown and the near west and east sides, is a racially and financially diverse populace. We serve this community directly through outreach such as Vacation Bible School, the annual free garage sale, diaper giveaways, and trunk-or-treat to name a few. The church is also host to five support organizations which hold regular weekly meetings in our building. We also host two Hispanic churches and have for several years now. These churches provide ministry to the large Spanish-speaking population in our community. Both churches are their own separate entities, led by their own pastors, and actively provide support to FBC. The annual Unity service, where all three churches come together in worship, is a highlight on our worship calendar.
Our adults and youth regularly participate in mission trips and camps including Blackhawk Baptist Camp and Quest at Green Lake Conference Center. In addition to our immediate community FBC has always supported Aurora at large by regular monetary and in-kind donations to local schools and local social service organizations such as Wayside Cross, Mutual Ground, and Hesed House. Of course, the community of Christ has no boundaries and FBC exhibits this spirit by ministering to members and guests from many different communities as well as supporting ABC missionaries across the world.
